As a 2.5-liner hybrid, our ultra-light LHOTSE X offers the full potential of the B-Class for long distance flights - with an extremely small pack size and only 2.7 kilos in size XS. The finely tuned handling and plenty of speed make it the ideal companion for mountain-enthusiastic pilots who are stepping up from the A-Class as well as advanced pilots who value safety reserves. Incidentally, the LHOTSE X is particularly handy for hike & fly and traveling thanks to our perfectly fitting CompressSmart packsack.
Franta Pavlousek (lead developer): “Demanding flying conditions, hike & fly, long-distance travel... anyone who enjoys flying in new terrain should be able to rely on their paraglider all the more. It's practical that the LHOTSE X is a multi-talent. With a reduced line layout, lightweight yet proven material and handling that makes steering as intuitive as it is efficient."
Note: Pre-orders are now possible via UP dealers – delivery will start in January 2025.
The first 2.5-liner for the Mid-B class! The KIBO X (EN/LTF B) has everything you need for a successful and relaxed flight: the performance and top speed of a hybrid, the high passive safety of an intermediate paraglider and, last but not least, the great fun factor of finely tuned handling. This combination convinces talented B-class-newcomer as well as advanced pilots - even in demanding conditions.
Franta Pavlousek (UP glider designer): "Why only offer 2.5-liners from the top B segment upwards? We have thoroughly tested various approaches in construction and chose the hybrid 2.5-liner concept for the final prototype. It simply has shown advantage in all aspects: performance, handling and even safety - compared to the classic 3-liner prototypes we tested. In other words: In the development of the KIBO X, the hybrid construction has merged so well with its high safety aspect that the result can be called mid-B with a clear conscience. This makes state-of-the-art design and top performance accessible to an even wider target group."
Both professional and private pilots have always valued the K2 series. "It flies like a solo glider" is the response from tandem pilots around the world. A characteristic that we naturally retained in the K2⁴. To make the successful model even better, we focused on the launching properties, the weight, and the optimal mix of materials for long-term professional use.
The goal was clear: build a trademark UP glider for the acro scene - a durable product that pilots love to fly. So we went back to the drawing board with Ondrej Procházka to tease out the essential points of such an all-round glider; and build it.
We were striving to come up with a glider that suits most pilots, starting with beginners. A wing that is as easy as the current "relaxed" acro gliders. In a big size, you can have it as a glider to enter the acro flying world. In addition, we ended up with such maneuverability and usable energy that the glider in a smaller size will capture the heart of advanced pilots.
The project would not have had such a good outcome without the skills of our chief designer Franta Pavlousek. His many decades of glider development experience make the UP Misti a very complete and interesting glider to fly.
The Lhotse² is the second generation of our very successful EN-B wing in lightweight construction. It is based on the Kibo² and thanks to its light weight construction, it is the perfect companion for all H&F, bivouac, and travel adventures. The Lhotse² will amaze you in flight with its appealing, beautiful, precise handling and maneuverability. Additionally, the excellent climbing and performance will tempt you to fly more cross country. The lightweight design will impress you even more when you carry it on your shoulders.
We are introducing the new Kibo² which comes as the successor of the very successful intermediate glider, the Kibo.
All sorts of technical refinements have been implemented, which makes our hybrid three liner a fun to fly glider with decent performance and high passive safety. Besides the improved pitch stability, the handling is more agile now, just perfect to use the upwind in most efficient way. Of course, the Kibo² retains the excellent feedback and comfort of its predecessor, making it the ideal wing even for demanding conditions.
The new UP Lhotse (EN B) sits between the UP Kibo and the UP Summit XC Series in the UP model range - but as a lightweight hike&fly and adventure glider it is so much more than just a new mid-level EN B wing!
In order to be able to concentrate on the adventure at hand, you need a wing that won't let you down in any way. The new UP Lhotse is such a wing; it has all the performance you need for long XC adventures in the backcountry regions of our beautiful planet, it is built light, and it is tough enough to withstand the challenges out there.
With the new UP Kibo (EN B), UP puts a whole new product branch on the UP family tree
The ideal mid-range EN B glider, and a perfect all-rounder at heart, the UP Kibo is built to progress on – it is the perfect mix between a very safe and forgiving beginner's wing and a performance-and-XC paraglider, meaning it will teach its pilot exactly how performance gliders fly, but it will look after them while doing so. It sits comfortably between the new Makalu 4 and the new Summit XC4 in the UP model range.
The predecessor, our K22, was often described by experienced tandem pilots as the most versatile, fun and lively tandem wing on the market; we know of several professional tandem pilots who would take it out for acro sessions with their friends to wind down after a long day of taking paying passengers up – this has to be the best indicator of the FUN factor inherent in this design! The K23 continues in the footsteps of this highly esteemed design. Our R&D guys have refined the details and kept the basics, so that commercial and leasure tandem pilots alike may enjoy the best wing in its class even more!
