For all of you who are already getting your feet wet in anticipation of the upcoming cross-country season, here's some inspiration: UP team pilot Julian Lange treated himself to a sightseeing flight of the finest kind around Lake Chiemsee in 2023 with an FAI triangle over 77 km! The best part: There's a video!
Julian writes: "I'm taking you on a 77 km FAI triangle in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps on my UP Trango X. On 24 June 2023 at 12:18 I took off from Hochries and flew once around the Chiemsee with the northernmost point in Altenmarkt. Have fun watching!"

The first 2.5-liner for the Mid-B class! The KIBO X (EN/LTF B) has everything you need for a successful and relaxed flight: the performance and top speed of a hybrid, the high passive safety of an intermediate paraglider and, last but not least, the great fun factor of finely tuned handling. This combination convinces talented B-class-newcomer as well as advanced pilots - even in demanding conditions.
Franta Pavlousek (UP glider designer): "Why only offer 2.5-liners from the top B segment upwards? We have thoroughly tested various approaches in construction and chose the hybrid 2.5-liner concept for the final prototype. It simply has shown advantage in all aspects: performance, handling and even safety - compared to the classic 3-liner prototypes we tested. In other words: In the development of the KIBO X, the hybrid construction has merged so well with its high safety aspect that the result can be called mid-B with a clear conscience. This makes state-of-the-art design and top performance accessible to an even wider target group."
A worthy successor to the MERU with a new top speed was the goal - and UP developer Frantisek "Franta" Pavlousek and our test pilot team succeeded. The MERU 2 (EN/LTF D) inspires with 84 cells and an aspect ratio of 6.9. In addition, there are some design tricks: Nylon rods at the leading edge and in the upper and lower sails, a new inner structure, maximised acceleration and a sleek profile throughout using a well thought-out mix of materials. The sum of these subtleties and their detailed coordination makes the MERU 2 so unique and interesting for competition pilots. Time to leave the pack behind!
Franta Pavlousek (UP glider desinger): “We significantly improved performance and top speed without neglecting the safety and the MERU´s famous flying easiness. This was the most important - and we can say the most difficult - part of the designing process. But we have been successful!”
The KANGRI X (EN/LTF B) brings all the advantages of the hybrid construction as a 2.5-liner - hence the "X" aka "Cross" in the name - to the KANGRI range for the first time. Fans of hike & fly, bivouac flights, cross country and light luggage can thus look forward to more speed and an impressive glide angle. In addition to clever lightweight construction and a small pack size, attention has been paid to making the glider robust according to its area of use and to further refining its pleasant handling.
