You can test-fly the latest UP paragliders on the weekend of April 24–25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at this address:
Jura Thal Flight School, Dünnernstrasse 3, 4713 Matzendorf, Switzerland
Good to know for pilots who’d like to stop by for the first time: The Jura Mountains are relatively small, with an elevation of about 400 hm. However, they offer excellent thermals and, especially in the evening, great soaring conditions. Normally, the airspace is closed at 1,750 m due to Basel Airport. During the 2026 Testival, however, it was open and the ceiling was raised to 2,700 m. For context: the landing site is at about 500 m above sea level.
What also makes this Testival particularly enjoyable:
- The organizer covered the cost of the mountain rides in 2026. You can find out if that will be the case again by contacting the Jura Thal Flight School.
- The Testival is right next to the mountain lift
- Large landing area right next to the Testival grounds
- Reliable shuttle service provided by the flight school
- Catering so far has included a french fries food truck, a barbecue station, Thai food with and without meat, drinks, coffee & cake, and classic “landing beer”
