Stefan "Boxi" Bocks on an Asian adventure

Donnerstag, 04 Juli 2013

The Trango X-Light 2 was still hot off the glider press when Boxi came around to snatch one up. Turns out he's heading to Dushanbe (capital of Tajikistan) in a weeks' time, to hike and fly from there to the Issyk Kyl lake in eastern Kyrgyzstan together with his old buddy and X-Alps competitor Urs Lötscher.

Stefan "Boxi" Bocks on an Asian adventure

It is a journey of some 1000km (straight line) through what is arguably some of the most remote terrain on the planet, with the Tian Shan and the Pamir mountains forming some obstacles (!) along the way. While communicationg with Boxi we have again learnt that he is very keen on light weight, and we think that we have finally got a wing that will satisfy both his desire for perfomance and his reluctance to carry any more than he needs for this formidable adventure.

Provided Boxi and Urs have access to some communications means along their route we may keep readers updated on their progress in our News on the UP website, otherwise we'll just have to serve you all the full story later. Urs is planning to take some pictures along the way, we look forward to seeing them! We wish both of them a fantastic journey and hope they have as much fun as their planning entitles them to!
