It all started with the Swiss Junior and Lady Challenge in 2009, when Nanda was asked if she would like to fly for Switzerland. By 2010, she had already finished second in the national championships. We look back on 16 years of competition and look ahead to the exciting question: what next?
After a total of four Swiss championship titles, we received the news at the end of 2025 that UP Team Pilot Nanda Walliser will officially end her paragliding career. She has already been given an honorable farewell by the SHV. We want to take this opportunity to look back at her greatest successes. Here are her personal top 3 unforgettable moments:
- 2021 / 2nd place at the PWC Gemona with the UP GURU
- 2023 / 3rd place at the World Championships in France
- 2023 / 3rd place at the 11th World Cup Super Final in Disentis, Switzerland
When asked what she plans to do next, Nanda told us that she will continue to fly her MERU 2 and MANA 2. Just for fun and without any competitive pressure. Which fits in well with her advice to all pilots out there: “Be patient and have fun!”
In her opinion, Switzerland is beautiful everywhere when it comes to flying, but her favorite launch site is Grindelwald. Maybe we'll meet here sometime for some relaxed cross-country flying.
We would like to thank Nanda for her loyalty to UP and look forward to many more years together – because she will remain a Team Pilot. Which keeps things exciting, because even without competition... as we know by now, Nanda flies pretty well.
