The news reached us more than a month after Martin's fatal accident and has stayed with us ever since. We mourn the loss of a person who had grown very dear to us thanks to his cheerful nature and his skills as a pilot.
Martin Bühler had an accident on August 17, 2025, while flying in Valais. Unfortunately, rescue workers were only able to recover his body at an altitude of 4,300 meters in the Domjoch area. The exact circumstances are currently unknown to us.
During his many years with UP and in his role as team pilot, he distinguished himself as a very friendly and reliable colleague. He was also an extremely talented and successful pilot who had been pursuing his passion for flying for almost 40 years. Just last year, we congratulated him on his latest victories.
But with Martin's passing, we have lost more than just a paraglider whose achievements we admired. We will miss him as a person with whom we always enjoyed interacting. His humor and warmth throughout all our years together will remain fond memories.
We deeply regret that so much time passed without our knowing of his death. Our sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
Martin, we will miss you!
